Deputy President William Ruto has now claimed that NASA leader Raila Odinga is plotting to be on the presidential ballot in 2022.
Speaking on Tuesday at his Karen residence office, Ruto asserted that the former Prime Minister is scheming to circumvent a pre-election pact signed among the Opposition coalition NASA principals in the run up to the August polls.
The agreement would see Raila become a one-term president, paving way for the other three co-principals including Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
Ruto cited the recent withdrawal of Mr Odinga from the presidential race in the upcoming repeat polls, claiming that it is a strategy the Opposition chief is employing to avoid a humiliating defeat.
“In my honest opinion, Mr Odinga is running away from a humiliating defeat. He has to come with excuses to justify his move. It is also a strategy because he wants to run again in 2022," he said.
