Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth has attributed his political tribulations to Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking on Tuesday, the former Gatanga lawmaker claimed that Ruto is orchestrating his political downfall in readiness for the 2022 general elections.
Ruto has already indicated that he will be seeking to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta should the Head of State win the August polls.
Kenneth had been widely tipped by political pundits as a possible heir to President Kenyatta.
The former presidential candidate lost the Jubilee Party ticket during the primaries to Senator Mike Sonko.
“We did not lose the Jubilee Party nominations, because my opponent was assisted by somebody high up in the party hierarchy,” Kenneth noted Tuesday without delving deeper.
“Our opponent was assisted by somebody who wanted to cut me to size politically…and lets not cheat ourselves, that person is Mr Ruto,” he added.
Kenneth will be seeking the city's top seat as an independent candidate.
