Deputy President William Ruto's Communication Secretary David Mugonyi has distanced the DP's office from the woes facing Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over the operations of his foundation Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation.
Speaking shortly after the NASA co-principal linked the Deputy President to his tribulations, Mugonyi dismissed Musyoka's allegations, urging the former Vice President to respond issues raised by the NGOs board over the foundation.
“We understand Kalonzo Musyoka’s political frustrations, but he should leave the Deputy President out of it. The Deputy President is too busy to waste time on such things. However, we know Musyoka’s statement is meant to serve some political interest,” Mugonyi said.
“He should respond to specific questions irrespective of who is asking and stop looking for scapegoats. Accountability is not a choice. Musyoka owes it to Kenyans and his donors,” he added.
The operations of the foundation have since been suspended and its bank accounts frozen.
Musyoka, who also sits as the Foundation's patron alleges political witch-hunt on the matter.
“We know people who are driven by vendetta and it is Number Two and his people. They are lying to people that Kalonzo got money to help get Ukambani under Jubilee but he did not, hoping to get votes,” he said during a press briefing on Wednesday.
