Deputy President William Ruto’s methodology of approaching issues could lead to protest votes against President Uhuru Kenyatta, observes Gideon Mamboleo.

At least in as many political rallies the two have attended, Ruto has been a victim of heckling by people who turn up in campaigns.

And Mamboleo says his way of handling other leaders, which he terms are dictatorial, could severely hinder Uhuru’s reelection chances.

“His tone is normally bitter and he openly disregards other leaders whether in Jubilee or opposition. This is the major undoing in Uhuru’s campaigns.

“We have seen him wrestle with a section of Rift Valley leaders and those in central. He is always tough and bitter when addressing topical issues. These are not qualities of a good leader,” he added.

At Rift Valley, differences between the DP and Baringo senator Gideon Moi played openly when he publically endorsed a Jubilee candidate for the seat despite KANU supporting Uhuru’s reelection.

Further, at South Rift, Ruto is facing stiff resistance from a team led by Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, who quit from defunct URP to CCM. Governor William Kabogo of Kiambu is also leading onslaught against the DP.
