Despite his persistent political fist fights with opposition leader Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto may have changed his approach.

Throughout the past Madaraka Day celebrations, Ruto has been ignoring the presence of Raila, thus causing heated debate among social media users.

Barely a day after the two hugged each other in National Prayers Day, Ruto breached protocol by inviting Raila to address the function before ushering in South Africa's Deputy President David Mabuza and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"Before I invite the president, We are privileged to have a special guest amid us. I want to invite my friend Raila Odinga to come and address us," said Ruto amid cheers.

It was the second time in as many months the two are sharing platform despite their fierce political rivalries.

In his speech, Raila thrilled the crowd when he acknowledged Ruto as his friend despite their persistent political jibes.

Ideally, Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi should have invited Raila before ushering in Ruto to continue with the program.
