Deputy President William Ruto was conspicuously missing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport ( JKIA) to see off the head of state as usual.

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i were among other officials that saw off the commander in chief of the armed forces.

The second-in-command later revealed that he was meeting officials from the Wajir county government over infrastructural development.

“In collaboration with the Wajir County government, we are prioritising a revamped road network, including the construction of the Garissa-Modogashe-Samatar-Kutolo road that will open up the region, upgraded facilities in hospitals and improved sanitation,” he posted.

The trip of the President comes at a time when all eyes have turned to DP Ruto following the order for all government officials to undergo lifestyle audit.

The Kalenjin political kingpin has, however, said that he is ready for the audit.
