Deputy President William Ruto has sent condolences to the Kenyatta family following the demise of Margaret Wambui, the first daughter of the founding president Jomo Kenyatta.
The late Wambui died at her Lavington home in Nairobi, Wednesday, aged 89.
Ruto described her as a hardworking public servant.
“Saddened by the news of the passing on of Margaret Wambui, @UKenyatta sister,” Ruto wrote on his twitter account.
“As we mourn Wambui, first woman mayor of Nairobi, we remember her dedication and care of duty as a hardworking and diligent public servant,” he added.
“A mentor and role model, the late Wambui commanded respect and awe from many. The nation will keep the First Family in its prayers,” said Ruto, Wednesday.
“To my brother and friend, @UKenyatta , take heart and be strong.”
The deceased was Jomo Kenyatta’s second born child from the founding president’s first wife Grace Wahu.
