Deputy President William Ruto has described the late Yvonne Wamalwa as a civil servant who served her country with commitment and dedication. Mrs Wamalwa, the widow of former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa, died on Thursday in Nanyuki after a short illness, the family said. “She served her country with passion, commitment and dedication during her stint at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, United Nations and later as Kenya’s diplomat to Australia,” DP Ruto said on Twitter, noting that he was mourning with family and friends. She was working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as deeply director in the liaison, parliamentary and county affairs directorate at the ministry. “Yvonne’s superb skills as a negotiator and leader came to the fore during two major conferences held in Nairobi: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and The Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD,” Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed said. Her body is being brought to the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
