Ichung'wa, accompanied by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, last Sunday attended a church service at Muruguru for a fundraiser without the knowledge of their Jubilee Party colleague, an action that has left area MP furious.

Ngunjiri has accused Deputy President William Ruto of sponsoring a politician in the area to unseat him in the 2022 polls.

He claimed the DP was using his two allies to support David Maina to contest the seat in the next election, an allegation Ichung'wa has dismissed.

"The person he claims we were introducing to the electorate is the one who invited us to the Harambee. He is a friend and the Deputy President only contributed money because I requested him to," Ichung'wa said, speaking to Sunday Nation.

The MP asked Ngunjiri to stop dragging the DP's name into his personal matters and focus on his legislative duties.

"I can only ask him to stop shadow boxing. The claim that Ruto is introducing someone to voters through us is a figment of his fertile imagination. Let him serve the people who elected him instead of focusing on 2022," Ichung'wa added.
