Deputy President William Ruto has come out to ask for forgiveness followed President Uhuru Kenyatta guide.
During his State of the Nation address in parliament on Wednesday, President Uhuru asked for forgiveness from Kenyans.
Through his Twitter account, Ruto apologised to anyone offended or hurt in anyway by what he has said or done at any time.
“Find it in your heart to FORGIVE me. I have forgiven ALL those who wronged me. Let’s embark on BUILDING the BRIDGES of friendship and UNITY,” Ruto said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on apologised for anything “hurtful or damaging” he might have said in the heat of last year’s elections that led to sharp division in the country.
He also called on all leaders across the political divide to do the same in the effort to repair relations severed as a result of political competition
“Since leadership is best done not by exhortation but by example, let me do as I have asked you to do. If there was anything I said last year that hurt or wounded you, if I damaged the unity of this country in any way, I ask you to forgive me, and to join me in repairing that harm," said President Uhuru.
