Deputy President William Ruto says Nyanza region has since shifted its political believes and that Jubilee party is taking roots.
For the better part of Wednesday, the DP along with President Uhuru Kenyatta traversed the vast Luo-Nyanza region where they held a series of rallies.
In Mbita, Ruto urged the Luo community which has traditionally supported opposition leader Raila Odinga to join Jubilee party.
“At some point I worked with Agwambo (Raila) and we tried but we were not successful. Time has come for you to join the rest of the country,” he said.
“Through my intelligence, I can tell that Jubilee party is taking roots in Nyanza and I have no doubt that this is our stronghold. We are only competing and I know our competitors cannot much us.”
But he had a day to forget in Kisumu when a group of rowdy youths heckled him periodically forcing him to cut short his speech.
On Thursday, the DP is expected to tour Kisii and Nyamira Counties which are predominantly occupied by Gusii community.
