Speaking during an interview with Citizen Radio on Tuesday, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga claimed that the DP is opposed to the Uhuru-Raila memorandum which is seeking to unite Kenyans after the divisive 2017 election that culminated in the swearing in of the former Prime Minister as the People's President on January 30 at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.

According to the vocal ODM lawmaker, for the Uhuru-Raila deal to achieve its intended purpose, there is need to have a referendum to amend the constitution.

"It's true that the Deputy President is trying to undermine our programmes after the handshake...there is a memorandum which President Uhuru and Hon. Raila had signed and for it to work, there will be need to amend the constitution to take care of what was agreed," said Wanga who is one of Raila's most trusted allies.

The William Ruto camp has publicly opposed the referendum push saying it is meant to serve selfish political interests.
