Speaking on Monday after hosting a delegation of Trans-Nzoia leaders in his Sugoi Home in Uasin Gishu, Ruto insisted that elections must take place as planned.

“The Constitution says Kenyans will vote in August this year and we will go on as scheduled,” Ruto said.

“The Opposition has always introduced roadblocks. They complained about IEBC, which has been disbanded, now they are complaining about the manual back-up system. These are just excuses to delay the election,” said Ruto.

He further slammed the opposition, saying that it has nothing new to offer Kenyans, and that it does not have the political strength to compete with the newly formed Jubilee Party.

“The Opposition knows well they cannot compete with Jubilee, that’s why they are looking for excuses. But we want to tell them they should be ready for elections in August,” he said.

The general elections are scheduled for August 8th this year.
