Buoyed by the recent visit to the larger Gusii region, Ruto managed on Tuesday to bring to board Kisii Governor James Ongwae and his deputy Joash Maangi.

A source privy to the details of Karen meeting says the two agreed to push for unity among the Gusii community which has traditionally supported Raila Odinga.

"Of course politics dominated the meeting and soon we shall see leaders pushing for unity after years of working with several parties.

"A single political party is in making and Ongwae has been tasked to bring elders together," said the source who spoke in confidence.

Youthful South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro is said to have brought the two on board after weeks of negotiations.

Still targeted in Gusii region, which comprises of Nyamira and Kisii is Governor John Nyagarama of Nyamira and area snator Okong'o Mogeni.
