The event was aimed at encouraging small scale chicken farmers to tap into modern chicken rearing methods.

The modern rearing methods according to the DP include quality feeds, construction of permanent brooder pens, improved storage facilities and value addition.

The Deputy President further emphasized farmers to join hands together to pool resources and form cooperatives societies.

He noted that the cooperative societies will enhance provision of extension services and enable the farmers to produce on a large scale and thus help boost food security in the region.

“We encourage small scale business people, including poultry farmers to tap into modern rearing methods such as quality feeds, construction of permanent brooder pens, improved storage facilities and value addition. They should also pool resources and join cooperative societies that will provide extension services,” said DP Ruto.
