Just a day after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga cliamed claimed that Ecucation and acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Mr Fred Matiang'i was using his position to influence IEBC in the August 8, polls, Deputy President William Ruto has fired a response.
"This election will be a peaceful revolution. We want to warn Matiang’i. He is a player in the Jubilee team and cannot purport to be a neutral arbiter," Raila said at a NASA rally in Kibera.
"Matiang‘i is trying to rig this election in the guise of acting on behalf of the state. We will not allow that to happen," he added.
While commissioning a 11.3 Kilometer Changamwe-Mariakiani dual carriageway on Wednesday in Mombasa, Ruto asked Odinga to concentrate on his main rival who is President Uhuru Kenyatta and leave out the CS in his political rhetorics.
“Let them compete with President Uhuru Kenyatta and I. Matiang’i is not politicking. We have enough people to politick for us,” said the DP.
“It is not Matiang’i who needs to make up his mind. It is they who need to [decide] whether they are ready for the election. And if they are not, they can choose to participate in 2022 and meet me then," he added.
