Deputy President William Ruto has ruled out any political negotiation with the Opposition coalition NASA.
Speaking on Tuesday at his Karen residence office, Ruto noted that the Jubilee top leadership is not open to any dialogue with the Opposition before the October 26 repeat ppresidential polls.
He, however, conceded that Jubilee can engage NASA after the polls, when Kenyans will have made a determination on who their next president will be.
“We are ready to engage with our competitors – post elections,” he remarked.
“We intend to keep to the dictates of the Constitution because it is the right thing to do. It is clear. It is what every democracy stands for,” he added.
The DP further accused the Opposition of blackmailing the state through street protests in anticipation of creating a political crisis.
“What stops another leader creating a crisis in other elections so that they can share power? What happens to the Constitution, which provides that leaders are elected by the people?” he posed.
There have been calls from different quarters for President Uhuru Kenyatta to dialogue with Opposition chief Raila Odinga to help end the current political stalemate.
