Deputy President William Ruto has revealed why President Uhuru Kenyatta decided to work together with the opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during the Chesta Teachers' Training College graduation ceremony in West Pokot County, Friday said their aim was to unite Kenyans who were sharply divided due to the hotly contested presidential elections.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta deciding to work with the opposition chief Raila does not in any way have anything to do with the 2022 political realignment but peace,” said the Jubilee Deputy party leader.

“Our aim is to unite all Kenyans regardless of their political or tribal affiliations since a country cannot move forward if its citizens are divided. As leaders we will carry out joint peace campaigns across the country we want residents to forget what transpired during the presidential elections and concentrate on development,” added the Deputy President.

He reiterated on the on the need for other leaders to support their cause to unite the country and also called on all Kenyans to help them move the country forward.

“For this to succeed we need concerted efforts that are from the opposition, those in government and not forgetting the common mwananchi, let us work together for the betterment of the country,” noted the DP.
