[Photo/PSCU]Deputy President William Ruto has disclosed why President Uhuru Kenyatta garnered a lot of votes in Kisii county during the August 8 election.Kisii is perceived to be a stronghold of opposition leader Raila Odinga.However, according to the August 8 presidential poll, Uhuru seemed to have harvested more compared to the 2013 poll.The president obtained 43.2 percent (175,415) of the votes in Kisii while in its neighbouring county, Nyamira, he got 52.07 percent (106,894) of the votes.Speaking in Kisii during a Jubilee rally on Thursday, Ruto said that the Head of State got many votes in the two counties because the Abagusii chose development and progress instead of the tribal propaganda peddled by the opposition. “We won the August 8th elections because Kenyans voted for progress. Here in Kisii more than 500 kilometers of tarmac road are being constructed. We increased homes with electricity from 13,000 in 2013 to 60,000 within four yeas,” said Ruto.Ruto further expressed confidence that Uhuru will still get many votes in Kisii in the upcoming October 26 fresh presidential poll.The DP was in the company of Uhuru and other Gusii leaders.
