Deputy President William Ruto has called on Kenyans to elect candidates eyeing various seats on the Jubilee Party ticket during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday in Kirinyaga County, the DP argued that it would be important for President Uhuru Kenyatta to have substantial numbers both in the National Assembly and the Senate, to aid effective running of his government.
“It is also important to give President Kenyatta a Jubilee team, from the Governor, to Senator, Women Representative, MPs and Members of County Assembly,” he said.
He further rooted for the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta, insisting that through the Head of State's leadership the country has realized meaningful development.“President Uhuru Kenyatta has constructed 160 kilometers of road in Kirinyaga, ensured that no student pays examination fees, rolled out electricity connections in every part of the county with maternity fees waived. It is therefore prudent that we give President Kenyatta another term to continue with his development agenda," he said.
However, on his part, President Kenyatta urged the locals to make their own independent choices during the polls, adding that he would work with anyone elected from the grassroots.
