Deputy President William Ruto has once again extended an olive hand to the National Super Alliance - NASA coalition, weeks after he alongside his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta were inaugurated for a second term.
Ruto who intends to succeed Kenyatta in the 2022 general elections, told NASA that time for politicking was over and that they should work with Jubilee government to better the lives of Kenyans.
"I want to tell my elder brother Raila Odinga (NASA leader), Kalonzo Musyoka (Odinga's deputy), Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula that they should come for us to work together. Time for politics is over. Let's wait for 2022 and we'll go back to the people to make a choice," said Ruto.
He reiterated the sentiments even as NASA pledged to give Jubilee administration sleepless nights until they agree to have a dialogue on how to end electoral injustices.
Ruto was speaking on Saturday in Namwela, Bungoma County, where he was accompanied by Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, Sirisia MP John Waluke among other local leaders.
During the visit in Bungoma, Ruto announced that the government had imposed a 90-day ban on timber harvesting in public and community forests following witnessed cases of unprecedented water crisis running into three years.
"Deforestation, degradation, encroachment on water towers and logging are undermining efforts to attain food security. We are actively involved in finding a lasting solution," said the DP.
