Deputy President William Ruto will tour Nyamira County on Monday barely a week after accusing Chief Justice David Maraga of allegedly shortchanging Jubilee government in Supreme Court ruling.
In what is viewed as protest to Supreme Court, Jubilee leaders have threatened to take actions against judges who voted in support of opposition leader Raila Odinga’s petition.
The attacks on CJ and his team lead several protests across Gusii region, his home base with locals accusing Jubilee of unfairly targeting him.
And to test the mood on the ground, Ruto will attend funeral of former North Mugirango MP Atebe Marita, whose home is situated few kilometers from Maraga’s home.
While at Nyamira, Ruto will be hosted by governorship loser Walter Nyambati, MPs Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira County).
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Ruto may be subjected to hash reception by locals due to his ‘unwarranted’ attack on CJ Maraga.
Based on hierarchy, Maraga is the senior most Kisii in the country in his position as head of judiciary and president of Supreme Court.
