Speaking during the homecoming of the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Trade Chris Kiptoo in Kimore, Moiben in Uasin Gishu county, the deputy president said that the handshake was not to alter the constitution.

“There are those who think that we have come together to plan for positions for rich people to share and that we amend the constitution,” said the deputy president.

He also added that working together is not to benefit the rich but for the betterment of the millions of Kenyan citizens and especially the unemployed youths.

“My friends, I want to tell you in broad daylight that all we seek in this corporation is not for the benefit of the rich but for the benefit of 45 million Kenyans especially millions of youths who are jobless,” added Ruto.

This comes a day after he condemned the opposition members of the National Assembly from altering the constitution to create more political posts to accommodate the unelected politicians.

Ruto had decried the constitution amendment on Saturday in Kakamega Town during the Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed’s thanksgiving ceremony.
