At the funeral of multiparty democracy supremo Kenneth Matiba, Uhuru hinted that a number of political cohorts from either side were not happy with the deal.

"I know some of my confidants and those of Raila are unhappy with our meeting. I urge them to join us for the sake of the country," he said.

But remarks by senator James Orengo sparked heated debate from the Jubilee politicians who claimed that Raila now wants to use the handshake for his own gains.

And Elgeyo-Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen and his Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei now wants the contents of the deal made public.

"I have not issues with Uhuru but he must now come out and tell us the content of his MoU with Raila. Let him tell us if it has something to do with 2022," said Murkomen.

On his part, Cherargei said: "We agreed that Ruto will serve for 10 years. It is now upon Uhuru to tell us whether he has now joined Raila just to short change Ruto."

While the DP has not openly faulted Uhuru for the move, his lieutenants now claim that Uhuru could have betrayed him in his agreement with Raila.

With constitutional amendments believed to be pat of the deal, Ruto has however publicly dismissed the move saying the country is not ready for another season of politicking.
