Deputy President William Ruto has weighed on the controversial Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission servers for the August 8 polls. This is after the National Super Alliance(NASA) claimed that IEBC had failed to open the servers, a proof that they had won the poll.In his new year message, DP Ruto stated that the rhetoric around IEBC servers was meant to dupe Kenyans.
"Talk by some politicians that elections results of August 8 can only be found in “servers” is wild, far-fetched, abstruse and an abstract excuse meant to dupe supporters. Servers don’t vote. It is the people and anyone who commands support of the majority of the people cannot purport to hide under such abstractions," said Ruto.
Ruto further took a swipe at the opposition stating that their withdrawal from the October 26 fresh presidential was also meant to dupe Kenyans.
He further stated that the counrty's political temperature in 2017 reflected that of 2007-2008
"Reflecting on the events of 2017 the mind is naturally drawn to comparison though mildly with the 2007-2008 cycle. The Kenya that went into an election in 2007 is a different country from the one that persevered through two elections in 2017," said Ruto.
Despite the set back, Ruto said that the country stands stronger than ever.
"We are clearly stronger, more mature and operating from firmer ground, thanks largely to the new constitutional dispensation," he added.
