Deputy President William Ruto has weighed in on the withdrawal of sports sponsors over the taxation of betting companies.The DP insisted that the government would not go back on the 35% taxation on the betting firms.''Paying taxes is an obligation and so we ask those who are sponsoring sports in this country to continue paying taxes. We will not negotiate with anyone on that. We have provided 500 million shilling to plug the gaps that may have been occasioned by withdrawals,'' DP Ruto said.The Deputy President was speaking during the SOYA Awards yesterday.His words come in the wake of threats from betting firms to stop funding sports activities going forward.
