Just amid anxiety in Jubilee party and ongoing fist fight with opposition leader Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto has intensified his charm offensive in Nyamira, a region that has backed opposition for over a decade.
Ruto, who is making second trip to the South Nyanzan County since October, landed at Ichuni Secondary School before being ushered to Keroka Level 4 hospital.
In the absence of ailing governor John Nyagarama, his Deputy , Amos Nyaribo led troops in welcoming the DP despite being a staunch supporter of Raila.
Also present were Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, former area MP Walter Nyambati, Majority Leader Duke Masira, Health CeC Douglas Bosire among others.
Conspicuously, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, West Mugirango's Vincent Kemosi snubbed the event despite having shown interest of backing the DP.
In 2017, Raila lost narrowly to president Uhuru Kenyatta in the nullified August polls having scored 46 per cent of votes to Uhuru's 54 per cent.
But overall, Raila led in the vast Gusii region which also comprises of Kisii County which the ODM leader actually carried the day.
