With the battle for Coast votes on top gear, Deputy President William Ruto has told off Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho over claims that Jubilee government has done little for the county.
Speaking in Changamwe on Sunday, Ruto accused Joho of politicising the issue of development, adding that all the projects which the government has undertaken in the coastal county are there for everyone to see.
Ruto said the government has set aside Sh2 billion for the construction of Magongo Road and that the project will be launched next month.
The DP added that in a bid to enhance efficiency at the Likoni Ferry channel, the government has committed another Sh2 billion to buy two new ferries which he says will be delivered in June.
As a way to reduce traffic snarl-ups along the busy county roads, Ruto said that Sh17 billion will be used by the government to construct Mariakani-Jomvu Road to make it a dual carriage way.
The DP's comments on the government's plans in the county come barely two months after a war of words ensued between Governor Joho and President Uhuru Kenyatta on the government's development record in the region.
