Deputy President William Ruto has accused the National Super Alliance (NASA) of plans to cause violence in the country.
The DP said that Kenyans have moved on after the prolonged electioneering period, accusing the opposition of continuing with 'incitement', months after Kenyans 'rejected' them at the ballot.
"2017 ends as the embers of a bare-knuckle, hammer-and-tongs electoral contest cool down. There are those who did their best to start the fire but to our credit Kenyans never took the bait and we give thanks that we concluded the electoral process peacefully," he said.
In his end of year message, Ruto added: "Some have continued to fan the embers of violence, but Kenyans have outrightly rejected this path."
He criticised NASA leadership led by Raila Odinga of polarising the country further through threats of 'swearing-in' on claims that they won the August 8 election which was nullified by the Supreme Court.
Ruto said if in deed NASA believes they had won the polls in August, they should not have boycotted the repeat election which was ordered by the Chief Justice David Maraga-led top court.
"Talk by some politicians that elections results of August 8 can only be found in 'servers' is wild, far-fetched, abstruse and an abstract excuse meant to dupe supporters. Servers do not vote," he said.
"It is the people (who vote) and anyone who commands support of the majority of the people cannot purport to hide under such abstractions. Neither can they chicken out of elections," Ruto added.
