Days after a section of leaders questioned Deputy President William Ruto’s readiness to back President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call for life style audit, the second in command has now said that he will present himself to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for probe into the source of his wealth.
Speaking during the 43rd Annual National Conference of Principals at Wild Waters in Mombasa County on Wednesday, Ruto said that he is clean, adding that he does not fear undergoing the process.
“I will submit myself for a lifestyle audit in a new scheme announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta recently,” he said.
He also questioned media houses that have been doing stories on the wealth of different leaders only to stop at him.
The move comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta promised to fight graft in the different arms of the government.
The head of state has maintained that he will not tolerate corrupt leaders in his government.
He further noted that he is aware of several corrupt leaders in his government, adding that their days are numbered.A number of politicians, especially from the opposition, have been questioning the source of Ruto’s wealth.
The leaders have linked him to various scandals that have rocked the nation since the Jubilee government took over power. Ruto has, however, dismissed their claims as baseless.
