Deputy President William Ruto failed to ‘cure’ a disaster at its infantry stage and could be a victim of his own mistakes, says Dismas Mokua.
With 2022 presidential ambitions hanging in balance, Ruto is fighting a rebellion waged by Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and Baringo senator Gideon Moi.
But Mokua blames Ruto on inability to embrace consultative leadership and dialogue whenever his allies raised critical issues.
“He failed to cure a disease which he was in a position to. He has continued to ignore genuine calls from his former allies and this is detrimental to his future ambitions,” says Mokua.
He further adds: “Dialogue was key given that most of those opposing him are not newcomers in politics. He will have himself to blame in future for such grave mistakes.”
While Rutto has since forged an alliance with opposition outfit NASA, Moi has opted to work with Jubilee with his KANU party; a move with the DP is continuously rubbished.
Although he still supports President Uhuru Kenyatta, Moi has never hidden his plans to rival the DP in 2022 presidential elections.
