Deputy President William Ruto will now compensate Adrian Muteshi for illegally taking away his land.
This is after he withdrew his appeal against a High Court decision requiring him to pay Muteshi Sh5 million for illegally taking away his land.
Ruto on Wednesday informed Court of Appeal judges Patrick Kiage, Agnes Murgor and William Ouko that he will no longer pursue his appeal against Muteshi.
However, the legal battle over the land is not over yet. Ruto will now turn his guns to the person who sold him the land.
"We are going for the people who sold the land to us because they are the people who put us in difficulties," said Ruto's lawyer Katwa Kigen, as reported by The Standard.
The Deputy President told the Court that he acquired the land from one Dorothy Jemutai Yator.
Jemutai had sub-divided the 100 acres into nine parcels and sold them to Ruto who was then a Member of Parliament for Eldoret North Constituency.
Ruto said the Court erred in ordering him to pay Muteshi Sh5 million, as it was not his fault.
