He said that all public servants will be asked to explain their source of wealth and those found guilty of siphoning public resources shall face the full force of the law.

“Those found culpable will be taken to where they belong - in prison," the President said.

The head of state made the announcement in Mombasa on Thursday during the official opening of Dongo Kundu bypass.

He noted that a number of public servants are hiding behind the names of their wives and children but will be soon smoked out.

The major announcement comes only a day after he directed all government entities and public owned institutions publish full details of tenders and awards from July 1.

The President insisted that the war against corruption will not be based on tribes or political affiliation.

“Corruption must end and those trying to politicise the issue will not succeed.  A thief is a thief, he has no tribe. You cannot use your tribe to shield and justify yourself. We cannot afford to trivialize graft by politicking,” said the President.
