Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday presided over the launch of the first ever Microsoft testing center in the country at the Techno brain company offices in Nairobi, Woodlands area.

The event which was attended highly by key stakeholders in the ICT sector and government officials, among them ICT cabinet secretary Joe Mucheru is seen as a major boost to the ‘Big 4 agenda’ which incorporates innovation as part of its components.

“We want to build a community of engineers, developers, coders and designers to deliver the innovations that will define our prosperity and technological advancement. We will be testing new Microsoft software before it is released to the world. This is a vote of confidence for Kenya, the tech community and its huge potential” Ruto said in his speech to the hundreds of ICT stakeholders who were in attendance.

Kenya becomes the first country to boast of Microsoft Corporation’s first development testing and quality assurance center in Africa. 

Before this the Bill gates led trillion dollar valued company used to outsource software testing and quality assurance to tech giant Techno brain limited.

Skilled system developers have also been called upon to submit their applications for windows compatibility tests at the new center.
