Deputy President William Ruto has urged political leaders to shun talks that could lead to violence and embrace peace instead.
He says this will help unite Kenyans, especially during the electioneering period.
"Leaders should commit themselves to non-violent and non-tribal campaigns that might divide Kenyans,” he said while addressing residents at Sugoi on Sunday.
He added, “We want the church to come in and pray for peace as we approach the General Election."
He, however, challenged Opposition leaders to accept the outcome of 2017 elections.
“We as Jubilee shall abide by the law and shall accept the election results. We urge our brothers to do so too. We should not accept blood shed because of leadership,” noted Ruto.
The Deputy President also called upon residents to vote for Jubilee Party in the coming general election.
"Let’s vote for Jubilee since the party has helped open up this region to development,” he said.
He also urged Rift Valley residents to register as voters to participate in the fourth coming elections.
"You should take advantage of the voter registration exercise set to be held countrywide," said Ruto.
“If you do not register as a voter, how will you participate in choosing the right leaders to govern this country?” he asked.
