Deputy President William Ruto has said he will continue touring the Western Kenya region which is deemed to be an opposition stronghold.
Speaking during a Sunday service in Kakamega, Ruto said it is within his mandate to work all over the nation failure to which Kenyans will hold him accountable, further saying he does not need anyone's permission to go anywhere in the nation.
"I will not stop touring the Western region and I don't need any person's permission to come here. The President and I were elected to office to serve all Kenyans and that is among the reasons why I am touring this region. Kenya has only one Deputy President who is me and if I don't do my job, what will I tell the people when the time comes?" he said.
Ruto also urged Kakamega residents to embrace the newly launched Jubilee Party and move away from the Opposition which is reportedly enjoying massive support from the region saying, this time, they must be in the government together.
''This time, we are not leaving you out. We must move together,'' he said
The sentiments were also echoed by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka who recently joined Jubilee Party.
He said the Cord coalition is non-functioning further likening it to a maize grinding machine with a broken chain.
The Deputy President has recently been touring the Western and Kisii regions in a bid to woo residents ahead of the next polls slated for August 2017.
