Addressing locals in Eldoret town on Sunday, DP Ruto said that county governments have enough resources that should be used to promote development.

He said that devolution was meant to fight poverty and promote social-economic development in all parts of Kenya.

“County governments should put in place strategies that will fight poverty and improve the well-being of all Kenyans,” said DP Ruto.

He stated that the national government will continue to provide resources that will boost development in all 47 counties.

He said that the national government is keen on seeing the success of devolution. He added, “We as the government want to ensure that Kenyans at the grass root have access to basic services.”

Meanwhile, DP Ruto called on leaders at the counties to embrace unity and stop wrangles which he said is a hindrance to development in such counties where constant conflict is experienced.

He added that leaders have a responsibility to embrace peace and help unite the locals instead of fighting for their personal gains.

DP Ruto also noted that wrangles will continue to tarnish counties negatively and keep away investors.
