He said matters of the defense forces should be left to the Commander-In-Chief.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta is the Commander-In-Chief of the Kenya Defense Forces and can make decisions independently on security matters," he said.

Speaking during an interdenominational prayer service at the Bindura Africa Inland Church in Uasin Gishu County on Sunday, Ruto said the President has the right to give direction on how security issues should be handled.

“Politicians should leave matters of security and concentrate on what they understand,” added the Deputy President.

He called upon politicians to refrain from divisive politics.

“Jubilee government has done a lot in making Kenya a united and peaceful country and we won't allow anyone to divide Kenyans," noted Ruto.

The withdrawal of KDF troops from South Sudan followed the dismissal of Kenyan Commander of peacekeeping force Lieutenant General Johnson Kimani Ondieki by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon for allegedly failing to prevent civilian deaths.
