Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned Opposition coalition NASA leader Raila Odinga against creating unnecessary hurdles ahead of the repeat polls.
Speaking on Sunday at Serani Grounds in Mombasa, Ruto called on the former Prime Minister to face off with President Uhuru Kenyatta on October 26.
The DP further asserted that NASA was keen to sabotage the upcoming polls, in an apparent move aimed at gaining power through unconstitutional means.
“As you can see these fellow wants to avoid the poll citing excuses. We want to ask them, let them be honorable and face President Kenyatta on the ballot or they should not have an alternative of making our country ungovernable because that’s not acceptable,” he said.
Ruto was accompanied by President Kenyatta, Tourism CS Najib Balala, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and a host of other Jubilee Party leaders drawn from the region.
The meeting saw Omar formally join the ruling party from NASA.
