Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir taught my family a new dimension of the Lord's Prayer, Deputy President William Ruto has revealed.

Ruto, who attended a Sunday mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret town, said when he was facing criminal charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC), Bishop Korir visited him and the family where he asked them to say the Lord's Prayer seven times.

The DP was among six Kenyans who were facing criminal charges at ICC in relation to the 2007/08 post-election violence that led to deaths of over 1,000 people and displacement of close to 600,000 others.

"We never appreciated what the Lord's prayer was all about until when Bishop Korir taught us in a different way. He told us that whenever we've problems and don't know how to pray we should always remember the Lord's prayer, and when things get even harder we should say the Lord's prayer seven times," noted Ruto.

"This has become our tradition whenever we meet as a family as we always remember what Bishop taught us about the Lord's prayer," he added.
