On Sunday Deputy President William Ruto took a bold step to reveal why he has been linked to numerous scandals by his detractors.
Ruto who was speaking in an interview with Kenyan journalist in New York, USA stated that his name is being dragged through the mud by individuals who can't stomach how such a nobody like him could rise to the top and be a key figure in Kenya's political spheres.
“Some people have a problem with how far I have come, I even saw some fellow complaining, 'how did William Ruto get here," Ruto said.
"I perfectly understand the people who believe that the only way to get anywhere is to have shortcuts," he added.
Mr Ruto dismissed the allegations noting that every milestone he had made in his life was through sheer hard work. He added that he had never been favoured to occupy any position but had competed for it with other individuals.
“I have got here by sheer hard work. I have not been appointed to any position since I left school. Every position I got, I competitively got it. I have worked hard for it and I have not gotten a lift from anybody,” Ruto said
