Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot has alleged a wider scheme by President Uhuru Kenyatta to shortchange Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the DP's 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking on Monday, the lawmaker cited recent developments within smaller parties that have resolved to back President Kenyatta's re-election bid, questioning the Head of State's signing of MoUs with the outfits in the absence of the Deputy President.
The smaller political parties include Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's Kanu.
Senator Moi has been widely tipped by pundits as the possible heir of President Kenyatta as succession plans shape up.
The son of former President Daniel Moi has made it clear that he will be gunning for the country's top seat in 2022.
"We have been questioning how and why URP was dissolved. We thought they didn't want other parties but we saw Uhuru engaging some," Cheruiyot noted.
"When we realised things were changing, we formed our own party called Chama Cha Mashinani " he added.
