Deputy President William Ruto's bid to be the country's fifth President is facing a political setback after the youths in the Rift Valley decided to back Senator Gideon Moi for the 2022 Presidential elections.
The youths who have dubbed themselves as 'Vijana na Gidy' have expressed that senator Moi represents the interests of everyone in the country, both old and the young.
The young people from 15 counties in the North Rift have affirmed that they have no quarrel with the deputy president but say the Baringo Senator has the best qualities for the top seat.
According to the group's chairperson Allan Mulwa, they will start a national tour with an aim to interact with the youths and convince them that Moi is ideal for the presidency.
"We believe it's Moi who will succeed President Kenyatta as he has all the qualities compared to the Deputy President William Ruto," said Mulwa in Eldoret town.
The move by the Rift Youths has boosted Moi's bid for the general election in the next four years.
However, the Baringo Senator, son to retired President Daniel Moi has not yet declared publicly if he is going to vie for the seat that is also being eyed by his tough rival the DP Ruto.
