Deputy President William Ruto has urged parents to take their children to school following the recently implemented system of education.
Through his Twitter account, on Saturday, the DP said the need to take children to school by parents will ensure a smooth transition of the education system to the new phase.
He further highlighted that education for all creates equity, reduces poverty, empowers youth and eliminate various societal ills adding that education is generally crucial for the development of the country.
"We urge parents to take their children to school as the government ensures retention and transition to the next education phase. Education for all creates equity, reduces poverty, empowers youth, especially girls, eliminates societal ills and is crucial for development," he said on Twitter.
The new system 2-6-3-3-3 was set to effect at the beginning of 2018 and currently, pupils under class three level will be the first beneficiaries of the new system.
It was initiated by the former cabinet secretary for education Dr. Fred Matiang'i in bid to ensure all children get necessary skills for their areas of specialization, to nurture talents and to avoid unnecessary wastage of time learning things of no interest.
New study books have also been put in place different from the old ones. New studies such as Environmental studies and creative arts have been reintroduced to ensure all sklls are covered.
