The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has cleared the perceived front runners of the Ainabkoi seat; incumbent Samuel Chepkonga and William Chepkut.

After facing off with each other during the party primaries, fate has again brought the two together, with Chepkut, a longtime Nicholas Biwott aide.

The two were cleared by the commission and are now eyeing the parliamentary seat.

“I won and I was declared the winner, but Duale told me much earlier that come what may, you will not be given the certificate, and indeed I lost,” said Chepkut.

“I want to thank the Ainabkoi people for the support they have given me for the last four years,” added Chepkonga.

The two leaders are now challenging the IEBC to ensure the results of the august 8 polls reflect the will of the people.

“That they are going to provide free, fair, just and credible elections,” added Chepkut.

Ainabkoi Constituency is one of the six constituencies that form Uasin Gishu County, and is said to be the third in voter density.

In the Jubilee Party primaries, MP Chepkonga beat his closest rival by 90 votes.
