Deputy President William Ruto is between a rock and hard place as we head to the August general polls, Star reports.
The DP will have an uphill task when it comes to supporting any candidate at his backyard following the recent twist of events in the area following nominations as Bomet Governor wages war against Jubilee.
The legislator will be forced to make a difficult decision after both Governor Jackson Mandago and businessman Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki insisted that they will be on the ballot box yet they are his close allies.
Regardless of the aspirant he will back, the DP should expect criticisms from the other side of the game.
Buzeki has affirmed that he will rally the electorate behind President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto despite losing during Jubilee nominations.
On the other hand, Mandago has also said he will back Jubilee after bagging the ticket. In Turbo, the Jubilee win by Kevin Okwara has also put the DP in a dilemma.
Okwara had expressed his gratitude towards Ruto for ensuring there is democracy in the primaries after fears of rigging. Okwara said, “I thank the DP for ensuring that democracy prevails and that I am given the Jubilee ticket because I won the primaries fairly. Buzeki has also remained upbeat that the DP will stand with him.
Buzeki said, “I will run as an independent and seek votes for President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto because if there is anyone with the capacity to give them votes in Uasin Gishu then it’s Buzeki,” he said. Meanwhile, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has vowed to pitch tents in different parts of Rift Valley to ensure that he delivers 1.5M votes.
