Deputy President William Ruto’s close ally Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday issued what may be considered an amiable birthday message to NASA leader Raila Odinga.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator took to Twitter to wish Raila Odinga a happy birthday as he turned 73, while at the same time acknowledging his immense contribution to Kenyan politics.
Murkomen who is also Senate Majority Leader noted the critical role played by the NASA leader in making politics in Kenya exciting and competitive.
“Happy Birthday @RailaOdinga. I wish you God’s blessings and looong life to see goodness in our land. Politics is boring and too easy without you. Barikiwa!,” tweeted Murkomen.
This is a departure from Murkomen’s latest trend that includes issuing strong criticism of Raila’s political moves and ridiculing his swearing-in plans.
In December last year, Murkomen mocked Raila over his pronouncement that he will be sworn in as President if Uhuru Kenyatta does not begin dialogue with them on electoral and judicial reforms, days after Mr. Kenyatta was sworn in for his second term.
In his remarks, Murkomen said there was no problem with Raila being sworn in as the president of “some club, NGO or organisations” adding that his swearing-in will not in any way interfere with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s resolve to proceed with his development agenda.
Despite public condemnation of the NASA leader, Murkomen has in few instances admitted to being a fan of the ODM party leader.
