Instead, they now want the DP to physically visit the region and get cleansing from elders over allegations of 2007 PEV.

Led by councilor Patel Aboki, they said that the DP should also ensure IDPs are compensated in full if at all he wants the apology to work.

"The apology means nothing to us unless he comes and gets blessings from elders. We have serious issues including displacement of our people from Rift Valley," he said.

He added: " We are not saying that we shall not accept it but until he fulfills our conditions. Our people must be compensated."

Despitre links to post election violence on 2007, Ruto has since been cleared by International Criminal Court.
