On Monday while campaigning for the Jubilee Party in Nandi county Deputy president William Ruto openly alleged that the leaders of the National Super Alliance (NASA) are just interested in taking over power to revive the ICC cases.
“We are aware of a plan by our competitors in the NASA alliance to have the cases we had at ICC resurrected in the event that they win the election but their plans will not work,” said Ruto in Nandi Hills town.
However, political pundit Mutahi Ngunyi who as always appeared as the biggest critic of the opposition coalition has condemned the statement by DP Ruto saying it may backfire and hand over victory to NASA in the August polls.
"So having failed to appeal to the ethnic loyalty of its base or their sense of “patriotism” and “nationalism”, Jubilee is now pulling out their 2013 ace card," said Ngunyi.

In 2013 political analyst claimed that it is the ICC issue that propelled Uhuru and Ruto to power as they roped their campaigns on the base of the "Coalition of the Accused" winning the hearts of many Kenyans, thus Ngunyi elaborates that its not a surprise that DP Ruto revisited the issue.
However, Ngunyi alleged that there was mischief in DP Ruto's sentiments since Uhuru kept silent and didn't comment on the issue but only resorted to attack his rival Raila Odinga of being a non performer.
"The recent claim by former suspect William Ruto that “NASA is plotting to revive ICC cases” is as Nixonian and Trumpian as it gets. And Uhuru Kenyatta’s silence on the allegation is in my view, tacit approval of the allegation," said Ngunyi.
"Ruto’s claim is also a bold-faced lie and proof-positive that Jubilee is losing the August 8, 2017 presidential race," he added.
