Members of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God have differed over a Sh10 million donated by Deputy President William Ruto.
According to a section of the members of the church, the donation was meant to induce them to back the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta as he seeks to square it out with NASA leader Raila Amolo Odinga in the fresh elections.
General Superintendent Patrick Lihanda has, however, dismissed split claims, saying that all is well. Lihanda insisted that the cash was part of the government support to the church, adding that nothing is wrong.
“We are apolitical and the donation was part of a pledge by the government to the church for development,” he said, as quoted by Nation.
Rev Tom Odego and Pastor Evans Nyamondi backed Lihanda’s saying he is a transparent man of God, despite internal differences.
Kisumu Town PAG pastor Nathan Ondego argued that there is no project on the ground despite the donation, adding that is no in order for pastors to use their positions to raise money.
He further said that he is only aware of the construction of the general superintendent’s house which the church has spent around Sh.90 million.
Ruto presented the church with a cheque of the said amount cash on September 14 at the church’s headquarters in Nyang’ori, Vihiga County.
